How does trauma impact upon the capacity and functioning of refugee communities?

Workshop outline
State terrorism and organised violence target the very essence of community relationships. When relationships are affected communities fragment and a lack of trust affects social interactions. This workshop is designed to address the impact of trauma and state terrorism on communities and provide guidance for liaising with refugee groups.

  • Impacts on Refugee Communities: Trauma, Migration and Settlement
  • Working Effectively with Refugee Communities
  • Case Studies

Target group
This workshop is designed for community workers and social workers wishing to develop professional skills in community development with refugee communities in Australia. Participants will need to have an existing understanding of basic community development principles.

Cost: $150:00 per participant (GST inclusive)

Pre-requisite: You must have completed the one day introductory workshop (Core Concepts) to register for this workshop. If you think you are entitled to an exemption, please call the training team to discuss this (9794-1900).

Times:
All workshops run from 9:30am to 4:30pm. Registration is from 9:00am. Please ensure that you arrive before 9:30am as all workshops start on time.
