Elizabeth Sterling is a Psychosocial Support Worker at CanTeen in Sydney. Her role entails a thorough intake assessment of new CanTeen members, followed by developing an individual support plan based on each member’s identified cancer support needs. Elizabeth’s role also involves ongoing planning, advocacy and psychosocial support work for existing and new CanTeen members as their cancer needs change throughout their cancer journey. Elizabeth also provides inservices to schools, hospitals and mental health facilities to spread awareness of CanTeen’s services and the psychosocial needs of young people living with cancer.
Prior to her role at CanTeen, Elizabeth spent two years working as an intensive in home counsellor, working with children and adolescents who had extensive trauma histories. Elizabeth completed her Master’s of Social Work degree in 2015 from Radford University in Virginia, United States. Elizabeth also holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
