Dr Kasia Kozlowska
Dr Kasia Kozlowska, a child and adolescent psychiatrist and a clinician researcher at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Westmead Institute of Medical Research, University of Sydney. In her clinical role she runs a multidisciplinary consultation-liaison team, a research program for children with functional neurological disorder (including functional seizures), and a specialist program—the Mind-Body Program—for treatment of children disabled by functional neurological symptoms. Because research with these children/adolescents shows activation of the stress system, the multidisciplinary team uses a stress-system model to understand and treat functional somatic symptoms. She and her team are committed to the close integration of research findings and clinical practice. Her 2020 open access book, Functional Somatic Symptoms in Children and Adolescents: The Stress-System Approach to Assessment and Treatment is a free resource by Palgrave Macmillan available to clinicians. Dr Kozlowska will present at a STARTTS Clinical Master Class in November 2022.
