Yvette is a Clinical Psychologist and the Senior Clinical Group Counsellor at STARTTS. She has over seven years of experience assisting and supporting refugee and asylum seeker communities both nationally and internationally. This has included volunteer work in the Immigration Detention centres on Christmas Island as well as working as a psychologist in Palestine whilst on mission with Medecins Sans Fronteires in 2018. Yvette has worked as a clinician for more than five years with the Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors (STARTTS) where she provides comprehensive assessments and therapy to refugee and asylum seeker clients across different age groups and diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds in individual and group settings. In addition she provides supervision and consultation to intern psychologists and colleagues at STARTTS. She also provides training to allied health and community organisations and has presented reflections on her work with refugees and asylum seekers in papers, posters, presentations and workshops in national and international conference settings and academic publications.
