Refugee Week celebrates the great contribution that refugees make to enrich Australian society. On Friday 12 June 2015, STARTTS launched Refugee Week 2015 together with the Refugee Council of Australia, Settlement Services International and Illawarra Multicultural Services, with Janice Petersen from SBS as the MC. For the first time ever, the launch event was held in the Illawarra, a major population centre of NSW.
Nominations for the 2019 NSW Humanitarian Awards officially closed on 31 May. We have received numerous inspiring nominations and have been overwhelmed with inquiries ever since and we thank you for your patience in responding to your enthusiastic inquiries. We take this opportunity to convey our warmest thanks to everyone who submitted nominations again this year.
In light of a change in format to the official annual launch of Refugee Week in NSW this year with our partners and friends at the Refugee Council of Australia, this update is to advise that the 2019 Awards Ceremony will be staged later this year on Friday 20 September 2019 during STARTTS 30th Anniversary celebratory event at the Imperial Paradiso, Fairfield 10:00am.
