Launch of STARTTS’ Tibetan Community Consultation Report

To mark it’s close and rewarding relationship with the Tibetan Community, STARTTS launched the Tibetan Community Report on Tibetan New Years Day.Tibet1

STARTTS CEO Jorge Aroche, and Community Development Coordinator Jasmina Bajraktarevic were delighted to officially launch the publication, which was the culmination of a long consultative partnership with the Tibetan community.

Over several years STARTTS has worked closely with the Tibetan community to provide services to facilitate successful settlement for new arrivals and targeted psycho social interventions.

Services such as yoga groups, the Families in Cultural Transitions (FICT ) program, therapeutic groups and psycho social education are provided to the community.

The community consultation aims to ensure that these services are available to all in the Tibetan community, and to improve clients access to the services .The report is an essential tool to enhance the delivery of these services and develop a trusting relationship with the community

Whilst recognising the strong existing relationship between STARTTS and the Tibetan community, the report has recommendations to improve and build on this relationship.

The report recommends the continuing provision of existing services; the further building of community activities through employment of a part time Tibetan worker; and fostering a greater understanding of the Tibetan community through training.

The launch of the report was accompanied by festivities to mark the New Year celebrations.

Attendees were treated to cultural performances and food providing a wonderful day for all.

STARTTS looks forward working on future projects and to many new year celebrations with the Tibetan Community!
