Responding to the Humanitarian Emergency in Southern Lebanon

Responding to the Humanitarian Emergency in Southern Lebanon

It is with deep sorrow that we address the exacerbation of the conflict in Lebanon and Northern Israel, where civilians in Palestine, Israel, and Lebanon have faced devastating losses of life, injury, and immeasurable suffering. At STARTTS, we are profoundly concerned about the worsening humanitarian crisis resulting from the latest attacks by the IDF in Lebanon, and the escalating violence across the region.

As an organisation committed to supporting survivors of trauma and refugees, we have long feared the possibility of this conflict growing into a broader war affecting Lebanon and surrounding countries. Unfortunately, those fears are becoming a tragic reality.

STARTTS condemns the use of force that has caused so much harm to civilians and strongly opposes any violations of human rights in this context. Together with human rights organisations worldwide, we call for an immediate ceasefire and a halt to hostilities. Peace, dignity, and health for all people in the region must be the priority in the pursuit of a lasting solution.

Support through STARTTS’ Witness to War Program

In these challenging times, STARTTS remains dedicated to providing support to those affected by conflict. Our Witness to War program offers essential assistance to people in NSW with refugee or refugee-like experiences, providing a lifeline for those impacted by ongoing violence. In partnership with FASSTT agencies, a national version of the Witness to War Multilingual Hotline is available to offer support to individuals experiencing distress related to the crisis.
